Diane Brickner Appointed new Board Chair of PACICC

Diane Brickner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Peace Hills Insurance, has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of the Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation (PACICC).

Ms. Brickner joined Peace Hills Insurance at its inception in 1982 and was appointed President and CEO in 1990. During this time, the company has successfully expanded throughout Western Canada. Today, Peace Hills underwrites insurance business of more than $127 million annually. Ms. Brickner has held many positions in the industry and her community. In addition to her service on the PACICC Board, she is a Director on the Boards of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (where she served as Chair) and the Edmonton Eskimos. Diane is also the past Chair of the Insurance Institute of Canada.

In 1999, Ms Brickner was appointed by the Board of Directors of the Insurance Council of Canada as the Chair of the Board. She was the first Western Canadian to be appointed, and also the first female.

The Canadian Association of Insurance Women presented Ms. Brickner with the Insurance Woman of the Year award in 1992. The Edmonton YWCA recognized her with its Woman of Distinction in Business, Management and Profession award in 1995.

PACICC was established in 1989 with a mandate to serve as Canada’s national, industry-funded, non-profit guarantee fund for the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. PACICC seeks to protect eligible policyholders from undue financial loss in the event that a member insurer becomes insolvent. PACICC works to minimize the costs of insurer insolvencies and seeks to maintain a high level of consumer and business confidence in Canada's P&C insurance industry through the financial protection it provides to policyholders. PACICC has more than two hundred member insurers.
